Meet the BoardAbout HAZ
We bring hotels together to grow their business, speak with one credible voice, develop Zanzibari talent and protect the island that makes it all possible.

Our purpose
A hotel is only as strong as the island around it. Stronger hotels build a stronger Zanzibar, and a stronger Zanzibar builds stronger hotels.
Hotels prosper when Zanzibar's people thrive and its place is protected, and the island gains most when its hotels prosper. This is shared value, not charity: the commercial case and the community case are the same case.
Strong associations are useful first, influential second and admired third.
Founded in June 2021 by professional hoteliers as the association for Zanzibar’s hotel and hospitality sector.
Joint promotions with airlines and partners, shared exhibition stands, negotiated terms on digital systems and one-to-one service agreements with Affiliates win business no hotel wins alone.
Market Pulse, Hotel Pulse and the Hospitality Impact Report make HAZ the source of hotel-sector facts.
The CSR & Sustainability Impact Observatory turns member contributions into verified, published totals.
HAZ membership is accepted by the Zanzibar Commission for Tourism as evidence of association membership for hotel licensing.
Well informed, generous with help, commercially sharp, rooted in Zanzibar and quietly confident. Five values guide how we work.
Every activity earns its place by being useful to member hotels.
For Zanzibar’s people, culture and faith, and for every view at the table.
We say what we can prove, publish what we measure and correct what we get wrong.
We grow when Zanzibar grows. Profit and community are not traded off.
We leave the island better than we found it.
